Obituary

Our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, sister, and friend Virginia Mae Walls Akers, age 93, of Princeton, West Virginia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the morning of September 5, 2021.

Virginia was born to Heath and Edna Walls in the community of Coalwood, WV on July 18, 1928.She was a graduate of Big Creek High School, Class of 1947.She attended business school in Charleston, WV.Following school, she returned to Welch to work as a legal secretary for several years.

Virginia loved her God, her family, and her country.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Eugene V. Akers, and her dear siblings:brothers Roy, Tom, and Raymond, and sister June.

Virginia is survived by her two beloved children Steven (Pam) Akers of Welch, WV and Kristie (Donald) Emmert of Princeton, WV; adored grandchildren: Scott, Stephen, and Ryan (Shannon); special great-grandchildren: Christian, Sarah, Brayden, Brycen and the new addition of precious Miss Briella; fond brother Don (Barbara) and sisters Margaret, Ada, Caroline (Bobby), Brenda (Johnny) and Sandy (Tommy); as well as several nieces and nephews.

Virginia loved animals and had numerous pets throughout the years.She left two of her babies, Missy and Pebbles, who will be loved and taken care of.

A private service has been held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Virginia's memory to the McDowell County Humane Society, PO Box 714, Welch, WV24801(304) 436-2185.
