Obituary

Vernon Dewayne "Wayne" Johnson 73 of Harmony, NC formerly of West Virginia passed away suddenly on October 9, 2025.  Born April 4, 1952 he was a son of the late Claude and Helen Johnson. Wayne joined the US Navy in which he proudly served his country. He later became a master electrician working for PRO refrigeration from which he eventually retired. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting on the family farm in Ripley, WV.  Wayne  spent the last few weeks looking at campers and after buying just the right one for him and his soul mate, Priscilla they headed out to his favorite campground in Jonesville NC.  Wayne passed away doing what he loved (camping) with the person he loved the most, his wife, Priscilla. Wayne was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Heather Johnson; sisters, Brenda and Karin Johnson; and brother, Jimmy Johnson.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife and soul mate of 33 years, Priscilla Johnson; beloved children, Jeremy (Charlene) and Kimberly Johnson both from Ocala FL., Joseph Rotenberry, Jr. (Savanna) and Todd Rotenberry (Michelle) of Ripley, WV; grandchildren, Sierra Johnson, Joseph (Trey). Dewayne (Hunter), Tori Rotenberry, Elijah Rios, Jace Johnson. Also left to cherish his memory are his great grandchildren, his many nieces and nephews, including Junior Castillo, and his best friend and nephew, Junior Castillo.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM, at Roselawn Funeral Home 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, WV 24740 Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM. Committal Services will immediately follow at  Roselawn Cemetery. Danny Craft III, Urbano Castillo Jr., David Cook, Steven Johnson, Trey Rotenberry, and Hunter Rotenberry will serve as pallbearers. Jeremy Ger, Elijah Rios, Jace Johnson, Danny Craft Jr., and Blake Castillo will serve as honorary pallbearers.
