Shirley Marie Taylor, of Anawalt, WV passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. She was born in Pocahontas, VA July 11, 1936 to the late George and Elsie Sluss. She was a devoted wife and mother of 4. She loved raising gardens and growing flowers and her hands were always busy crafting, cooking and preserving food.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sterling Vinson Taylor Sr, and 2 grandchildren, Ambrianna Bryant and Anthony (TJ) Taylor, Siblings Raymond Sluss, Dorothy Nash, Ann Davis and Gracie Belcher.
She is survived by children Natalie Taylor of NM, Sterling (Jr.) Taylor (wife Sharlot) of VA, Anthony (Tony) Taylor of WV and Troy Taylor (Wife Tammy) of OH. Grandchildren Heather Clower, Sterling Taylor III, Michael Taylor, Jason Taylor, Matthew Taylor, Eric Taylor, Joshua Taylor and Sarah Taylor. 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters Janet Thomason of SC and Veronica Andrews of TX.
Special thank you to her caregivers: Son Anthony Taylor, Granddaughter Heather Clower, Grandson Eric Taylor, Granddaughter in law Michelle Thomas, friends Mary Lambert and Linda.Chambers.
The family will receive friends, Friday, June 20, 2025 beginning at 12:00PM-1:00PM at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, WV. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM with Pastor Mary Lambert officiating and Doug Sluss providing the eulogy. Interment will immediately follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
Pall bearers: Grandchildren Sterling Taylor III, Jason Taylor, Michael Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Eric Taylor and Jacob Bryant.
The family expresses heartfelt thankfulness to Bowers Hospice House nurses for the loving and peaceful transition from her Earthly home to her Eternal home, resting in the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ.
