Shelva "Shelby" Jean Rutledge Rarick born at home on June 24, 1937 to George Guy and Ora Mae Rutledge of Matoaka, WV. Shelva was a member of the 1955 graduating class of Princeton High School. On December 3, 1955, Shelva married Jacob Chrisley Rarick, Jr. (JC).
Shelva was most proud of her job as Deputy Sheriff and Registrant at Concord University. She was an active member of Christian Chapel Fellowship Church.
Shelva is survived by her husband JC Rarick, daughter, Vickie (John) Ware, son, Chris (Iva) Rarick, grandchildren: Frederick Ware, Jacob Rarick, Rachel Rarick, 4 great grandchildren, sisters: Iris Underwood, Garnet Austin, Joyce McGee, Brenda Belcher, and Sharon Ford.
Shelva is preceded in death by her parents and sisters: Ewilda "Bill" Martin, Edith Crotty, and Helen Grogan. Shelva spent the last years of her life in Florence, SC. Music and flowerers were so much a part of her life that they would both be considered favorites with her favorite holiday being Christmas. She is remembered for her unconditional love, kind encouraging words, and if the church door was open she was there. Many of her nieces and nephews remember her as the, "Special Aunt".
Visitation/Viewing will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 6pm-8pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2022, at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, WV. Graveside services will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
