Ricky Henry Nelson, age 45 passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024 in Portsmouth, VA. Born January 25, 1979, he was a son of Susan Nelson and the late James Nelson Sr. Growing up, Ricky was very athletic and enjoyed playing sports. He loved to hunt, fish and participate in anything that involved being outdoors. Ricky had a special way of communicating with people to make them feel comforted and at ease with conversations. He was always willing to help anyone, no matter the request. In addition to his father, James B. Nelson, Sr., Ricky is preceded in death by one brother, James B. (Jimmy) Nelson, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Susan Nelson; son, Nathaniel Nelson; sister, Tracy Nelson; and two nephews, Christian Phillips and Jeremiah Nelson.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Alderson, WV.
