Richard "Rick" Johnson, Sr. passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Born April 15, 1947 he was a son of the late Robert William Johnson and Virginia Ellen White Johnson. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Maxine Johnson; brothers, Ronald Johnson, and Benny Johnson; sister, Barbara Robinson.

Rick worked for the UMWA in the coal mines for 20 years. He also loved to fish, hunt ginseng, go 4 wheeling, watching Andy Griffith, and westerns, especially "Gun Smoke." He was a man who loved to be outdoors in the mountains. Rick was kind and generous to everyone he met, and he never hesitated to help anyone in need. But, most importantly, Rick loved his family. He loved spending time with them and making sure they knew how loved they were. He was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory include his sons, Darryl Johnson and wife, Nancy, Jim Bob Johnson and wife, Mary; brothers, Roger Johnson and Bobby Johnson; grandchildren, Jessica Johnson, Keri Dalton, Ricky Johnson and Carlos Steffey.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Judy and Teresa Farmer for the love and care they provided to Rick.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 16, 2024 beginning at 12:00PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 1:00Pm with Pastor James Coe officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
