Bluefield, W. Va- Patricia Anita Godfrey Gomillian, 81, of Bluefield, departed this earthly life to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 30,2024 at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, W. Va. Born in Pocahontas, Virginia on October 12, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Monroe Godfrey and Eleanor Bennett Godfrey Mitchell.
Pat was a faithful and dedicated member of the Faith Center in Bluefield until her health started to decline and she was no longer able to physically attend. She was a graduate of Park Central High School and Bluefield State College (University) where she received a degree in Criminal Justice. She worked as a model while living in New York. Upon returning to Bluefield, she was employed as a dispatcher for Bluefield Police Department, a secretary for a local attorney and her last job as a certified nursing assistant.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, Clarence A. Mitchell, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Gomillian; son, Gregory Lee Murray; sister Cynthia Yvonne Godfrey; brothers, the Rev. Aaron Thomas Godfrey and the Rev David Monroe Godfrey; and two nephews Charles (Mario) Morrissette and Aaron Chesley.
Survivors include her son, Kevin Eugene (Mamie) Murray; her niece who she raised as her daughter, Tammy Yvette Godfrey; sisters, Barbara Godfrey Lewis, Georgie Godfrey Price, Andrea Eleanor Mitchell; two step-sisters, Clarice Mitchell Vassar and D'Borah Mitchell Parries; one step-granddaughter, Lashell Richardson; two step-grandsons, David Richardson and Dapatrick Richardson; one niece and six nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews, a host of cousins and many dear friends
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00PM, June 6, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bluefield, WV with the Reverend James Mitchell officiating.
