IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Minta Evelyn
Carper
October 16, 1934 – September 1, 2025
Minta Sammons Carper, 90, of Midlothian, VA and formerly from Green Valley, WV., passed away peacefully at her home Sept. 1, 2025. She was born in Glenhayes, WV to Henry and Florence Sammons who preceded her in death along with her sisters Nancy Bowen and Gayle Carroll, and her youngest daughter, Donna Clisso.
Left to cherish her memory is the love of her life, Bill Carper, along with children Debra Kipp, Diana Gates (Mike), and Billy Jr. (Sherry). Grandchildren Adam Kipp (Courtney), Brian Kipp (Laura), Angie Phillips (Roger), and Amanda Gates, five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She also had a cousin who was her lifelong best friend, Peggy Wilson.
Minta had a personality that was loving, humble, independent, and feisty. People who knew her loved to tease her because she was quick-witted. She was energetic and devoted to her family. She raised many gardens with Bill and her mother-in-law Edith Carper (deceased). She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, games, and puzzles. Together, she and Bill also raised a few cattle, goats, and had several adored pets. Minta is revered by family for her sense of humor, being a fabulous cook, wonderful holidays, and being a great wife, mother, aunt, and cousin. Minta was employed at National Electric Coil, Rockwell International, and her last employment was with Sears.
Special acknowledgement to Rick and Shannon Bowen for their love and their help over the years with Roanoke physicians. Also, many thanks to Rachel Monroe, MD for her kind and compassionate care throughout the years as well as Christa A. Motsinger, MD.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 5, 2025 from 12:00PM-1:00PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM with committal services immediately following in Roselawn Cemetery.
