IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary Virginia
Harman
November 4, 1929 – August 24, 2024
Mary Virginia Harman, 94, of Bluefield, WV passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born, November 4, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ophia and Gladys Carr. Mary was a member of Smith's Chapel Church of Brethren where she served as the church treasurer, taught Sunday school, was a youth group leader, and sang in the choir. She served as a 4-H leader in her community for many years. Mary was a dedicated employee of JC Penny where she worked until her retirement in 1992. During her employment, she became fondly known as the "bread lady." Mary spent her weekends baking rolls and loaves of bread and would take many to her coworkers for them to enjoy. Mary's home was the host of many family reunions and gatherings throughout the years where she cooked as though no one else would be bringing a dish. She was always willing to be the comforting hand for others, and she will never be forgotten for the kind, generous woman she always was.
Those left to cherish Mary's memory are her loving husband with whom she celebrated their 77th wedding anniversary on August 1, 2024, Ralph Harman; three children, Brenda Queen, Richard Harman and wife Meryl, Carol Niday and her husband (the late) Joe Niday; nine grandchildren, Cindy Smith and husband, Tony, Shawn Niday, Sammy Queen and wife, Shawn, Kevin Niday and wife, Wendy, Steve Queen and wife, Mary, Derek Harman, Parker Harman, Carrie Curry and husband, Levi, and Mary Jo Niday; twenty six great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Roselawn Funeral Home, Wednesday, August 28, 2024 beginning at 12:00PM. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM with Pastor Dannie Dinger officiating. Burial will take place at Roselawn Cemetery immediately following the services.
