"Flying Man" Caldwell
November 5, 1955 – February 1, 2023
Mark David Caldwell, age 67, of Princeton, West Virginia, passed away on February1, 2023 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born November 5, 1955 in Beckley, West Virginia he was the son of the late L.C. "Corky" Caldwell and Alena Nora Romano Caldwell. Mark worked for the family construction company from the age of thirteen until he graduated from Bluefield State College with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering at the age of twenty two. He worked for a Community Development company in Bluefield for seven years before taking a position as a project manager for a consulting firm in Beckley, West Virginia. Mark's career continued to grow and he moved into billboard sales and on to sales management for a statewide outdoor magazine in West Virginia. In 1993, Mark moved to Chatanooga, Tennessee where he resided for over twenty five years. During this time, he was the district manager for the Chatanooga Times Free Press and volunteered as programming producer at Chatanooga States, The Wawl radio station helping students for over twenty years. He also worked with Earth First, Chatanooga Intertrible Association, as well as with the state legislation to make Moccasin Bend become a part of Chatanooga National Park in which he succeeded. Mark managed and promoted thirteen recordings to radio stations and five of those thirteen recordings made the top 40 worldwide. After many accomplishments throughout his life, Mark retired and became the caretaker of an eight acre farm before finally setttling in Princeton, West Virginia.
Survivors include one son, Robert Booth; two daughters, Lesley Caldwell and Dianna Booth; one sister, Beth Hash; two grandchildren, Victoria Booth and Elizabeth Booth; one niece, Lydia Hash; one nephew, Adam Hash; special friends, Steve, Tim, Chad, Deborah, James, his ex wife and great friend, Diane Caldwell and numerous loving cousins and their families.
In keeping with his wishes, Mark will be cremated and his family will plan a Celebration of Life this summer.
