Karen Ann Lopez-Smith, 67, of Lester passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020, surrounded by those she loved most.Karen was a loving wife, mother to four children, Mawmaw to ten grandchildren, and Gigi to five great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.

Karen was born June 30, 1953, to the late Cecil Lopez and Mary Lopez of Corinne, WV.She graduated Mullens High School, then later Bluefield State College.Karen was preceded in death by her father Cecil, sister Diane, favorite son-in-law Mike Brown, sister-in-law Charlotte Hughes, two special nephews, Mathew Wrenn and Jason Reed, and fur-babies, Harley, Rascal and Spike.

Left behind to cherish her smile and the love she showered upon them are, husband of 46 years, Dwight; daughters, Shelly Brown of NC, Robin Hatcher (Adam) of Corinne, WV, Dr. Angela McCollum (Roger) of Wichita, KS; son, Jeremy (her baby) of Lester, WV; fur-babies, Harper and Max of Lester, WV; favorite grandchildren, Jerrod Smith (Cindy), Christina Stanley (Seth), Jordan Brown, Madison McCollum, Adam Hatcher, Marisa McCollum, Brandon Brown, Matthew McCollum, Kaleb Hatcher, and Marshall McCollum; Gigi's great-grandchildren, Aubree, Weston, Makenna, Macen and Jenson; her mother, Mary Lopez; her sisters and brothers; nieces and nephews; and camp family, who she loved visiting in the mountains and sharing her homemade cinnamon and pepperoni rolls with.

To know Karen, you knew a compassionate heart with an easy smile and beautifully generous soul.She was a giver of light to anyone she met.A light so bright, it will continue to shine in the hearts of those who love her.

Visitation for Karen will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SECU House of Winston-Salem, NC. in memory of Karen Smith, www.familyhouse.org.
