November 9, 1935 – December 2, 2023
Jerome Roger "Jerry" Hajenga, age 88 of Princeton, WV passed away Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Princeton Community Hospital. Born November 9, 1935 in Rhinelander, WI, he was a son of the late Robert and Evelyn Hajenga. Jerry attended the University of Wisconsin to study engineering which later made him a successful engineer and supervisor for a telephone company. He was in the National Guard serving as a tank commander and was called to active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Jerry and his family moved to WV in 1981. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America serving as Scoutmaster for Troop 1 and as a committee member for several years. He enjoyed hunting and working in the yard as well as traveling the backroads of WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother in law, Shirley and Paul Recha.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 64 years, Vivian M. Hajenga of Princeton, WV; daughter, Kathy Bowen of Princeton, WV; sons, John Hajenga and wife Beverly of Pittsboro, NC and Jeff Hajenga and wife Stacey of Princeton, WV; six grandchildren, Brad, Tanya, Max, Jeremy, Nicole, and Jason; and three great grandchildren.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services held at this time. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held for friends and family at a later date.
