Jarl Hunter Coomes , age 83 of Bluefield, WV, passed away February 20, 2023 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV. Born March 12, 1939 in Beeson, WV, he was the eldest son of the late Howard Coomes and Lola McKinney Coomes . Jarl joined the United States Navy in 1956 where he worked as a diesel mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1959. Jarl and his wife Roseanna (Rosie) liked going to Nascar races, but they mostly enjoyed staying home and spending time with each other. Althou gh he found great joy in working on old cars, hunting and fishing, his greatest pride was being a grandfather. In addition to his parents, Jarl is preceded in death by two brothers, Keith Coomes and Ronnie Coomes ; and two sisters Julie Worley and Patsy Cro tty .

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 42 years, Rosie Coomes ; two sons , J.J. Bartlett and Chris Lester and his wife Charity ; seven daughters, Barbar a Henley, L isa Mae Salcido , Dolores Mae Moreno, Lola Mae Jarlene Fernandez , Samantha Mae Mariscal , Rosemary Kinder, and Jessica Johnson-Thomas ; t hree brothers, Kenny Coomes , Scotty Coomes , and Jody Coomes ; grandchildren that were like his children, Hayleigh, Abigail , Rebekah, Baby Hunter, Christopher, Chyllian , Danielle, Lucas, and several others he loved dearly including numerous great-grandchildr en.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 with the service beginning at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Pastor James Milam officiating. Military graveside honors will immediately follow the service.

Fam ily and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
