Henry
Angove
Jan 28, 1949 — Aug 26, 2026
Henry C. Angove, 77, of Denver, NC passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Floyd, VA. Affectionately known as “Tag” or “Happy Henry” to many, he was born in Welch, WV on January 28, 1949, to James H. and M. Irene Angove. He grew up in Keystone, WV and graduated from Northfork-Elkhorn High School, class of 1966.
Tag will be fondly remembered for the easy charm and friendly smile that perfectly suited his career in sales and later in delivery service. For more than twenty years, he worked as a door-to-door vacuum cleaner salesman for Electrolux, where he proudly earned the regional “Salesman of the Year” award nearly every single year. After retiring from sales, he drove for Pizza Hut; he enjoyed meeting people and bringing genuine smiles with every “Hot Pizza!” delivery. Tag was an avid pool player and almost always had a billiards table in his home. He also loved playing several different card games, including Pinochle, Setback, and Texas Hold’em. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing tennis, pitching horseshoes, and bowling. On the airwaves, he was a CB Radio enthusiast known by his handle, “Tagalong”–a nod to the childhood nickname given to him by his father because everywhere Dad went, Henry was sure to tag along. The absolute highlight of his year was always the annual Angove Family Reunion. Soon after arriving, he would invariably proclaim, “I’m having so much fun, I’m already looking forward to next year’s reunion!” Tag was also a big fan of Dolly Parton, even naming one of his daughters after one of her songs. His children have all lovingly remarked that it is fitting he passed away the day after her because he just wouldn’t want to live in a world without Dolly. Happy Henry was a natural conversationalist who genuinely never met a stranger. He was a true character, and his joyful nature and playful antics will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his daughters: Carla Coleman (Todd), Jolene Nicks (Ray), and Fallon Weidner (Hans); his son, James Angove; two sisters: Kathy Casey (Jon) and Becky Blevins (Chris); three brothers: James “Duffy” Angove, David Angove, and Michael Angove (Dorothy); as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Roselawn Funeral Home, 450 Courthouse Rd, Princeton, WV 24740. Rev. Michael Rexroad will officiate. Interment will immediately follow in Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, 100 Center St, Princeton, WV 24740.
