Harold Hamann, age 78 passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV. Born October 9, 1945 he was a son of the late Arthur and Evelyn Hamann. Harold graduated from Amery High School in Wisconsin and volunteered to join the U.S. Army in 1963 serving in the Vietnam Conflict. After his Honorable discharge from the Army, Harold started his career with Norfolk Southern and Western Railway on September 18, 1968 as a yard brakeman in Bluefield, WV. He worked as a car retarder operator, yard conductor, engineer, relief yard master, and was then promoted to yard master in May of 1980. In 1985, Harold was transferred to Richlands, VA as a yard master where he worked until being transferred to Columbus, OH in 1987.  Harold was a loyal and dedicated employee with more than 30 years of service when he retired from Sandusky, OH. He made his home in Bluefield, WV and served as an officer in the VFW Post 9696 of Bluefield, VA.  Harold is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda L. Hamann of Bluefield, WV; son, Harold Richard Hamann of Lancaster, OH; Patricia Elaine Johnson and husband, Dean of Detroit Lake, MN; Arlyce Jean Anderson and husband, Doug of Eau Claire, WI; Sandra Hamann of Ft. Wayne IN; Paul Elmer Hamann and Judy Cook Hamann of Virginia Beach, VA; and Linda Ann Sahnazin of Milwaukee, MN.
He was preceded in death by Leroy Stanley Hamann and Erma Joy Hamann,
The family will receive friends at Roselawn Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 12:00-1:00PM. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastors, Dr. White and Abel Solademi officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
