Obituary

Glenna Mae Flesher Early, age 93, of Bluefield and Athens, WV, died on November 17, 2021 in Athens, WV.

She was born on October 27, 1928 in Morgantown, WV to parents Everett Cecil Flesher and Grace Darling Huffman Flesher.

She attended Neale School in Vienna, WV and graduated from Parkersburg High School.She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from West Virginia University in 1950.

On October 14, 1950, she married Buford Palmer Early, Jr. in Valdosta, Georgia.The couple moved to Bluefield, Virginia, and later settled in Bluefield, WV.

Mrs. Early taught at Springton, WV, Elkhorn High School in McDowell County, WV, and at the Westminster Presbyterian Church Pre-School in Bluefield, WV where she also led the children's choir.

She was a pianist at Fincastle Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, VA, and taught piano lessons.She also served as a hospital volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital in Bluefield, and served as a volunteer reading teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, in 2014; one sister, Thelma Jean Flesher; two brothers, E. Cecil Flesher, Jr. and John Ralph Flesher; and two sons, Buford P. Early III and William Glenn Early.

She is survived by one brother, Glen Max Flesher and his wife, Geneva, of Reedy, WV; one sister, Mary Louise Flesher Hess and her husband, Robert, of Strongsville, Ohio; one son, Donald Grey Early and wife Martha Holder of Piney Creek, NC; two daughters: Christine Early Bone and husband, Tom, of Athens, WV and Rebecca Ann Early Fields Walker of Ashland, KY.

She is also survived by five grandchildren: Erin Rebecca Bone Steele and husband Colin of Silver Spring, MD, Staff Sgt. William Thomas Bone IV and wife Sandra Stafford, stationed at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in Washington, DC, Amanda Christine Fields of Ashland, KY, Edward Nicholas Fields of Ashland, KY, and John Holder and wife Deanna of Tampa, FL.She has three great-grandchildren:Genevieve and Penelope Steele of Silver Spring, MD and Jana Holder of Tampa, FL.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
