Obituary

Gladys Lorraine "Roark" Williams, 92 of Princeton, WV died peacefully, March 24, 2023. She was born September 6, 1930 in Kimball, WV to the late Clifford Roark and Susie Pace Roark. She was raised and attended school in McDowell County, where she later married the love of her life, the late Coy Donald Williams. Gladys and Coy raised their sons and three grandsons in McDowell County until moving to Mercer County. Gladys was an active member of the Carswell Community Church since the early 1960's, serving as secretary and treasurer. She was very involved in teaching Sunday school, directing church plays and many other church activities. She was a dedicated "prayer warrior" that could be called upon for advice and she would always say "We'll pray about it." Gladys was a homemaker and she enjoyed gardening, and loved her flowers. She enjoyed sewing and caring for her grandchildren, nephews, and other family members.

In addition to her husband of 71 years, Coy Donald Williams, she is preceded in death by five brothers, Raymond Bowman, William Bill Roark, Ellis Roark, Coy Roark, and Arthur Eugene Roark; two sisters, Margaret Lucille Belcher and Helen Marie Roark; one grandson, Zachary Williams; and one great granddaughter, Autumn Williams.

Those left to cherish her memory are sons, Donald Williams and wife, Sue, Danny Williams and wife Connie, Timmy Williams and wife Dawn all of Princeton, WV; Grandchildren (two grandsons in which she raised), Josh and Jude Williams, Cody Williams, Destiny and Skylar Williams all of Princeton, WV, Karen Williams Cox of Myrtle Beach, SC, Donnie and Tammy Williams of Kingsport, TN, Kenny Williams and Tabby Thomas, and Billie and Candice Williams of Princeton, WV; Sisters, Ruby Cline of Lexington, NC and Virginia Anders of Indianapolis, IN; Sister in laws, Mildred "Minnie Burks" Roark of Kimball, WV, Nancy Roark of BelAir, MD and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 11AM to 12PM on Tuesday, March 2023 at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, WV. Funeral service will begin at 12PM with Pastor Donald Williams officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
