George Smith Davis, age 91, of Bluefield, WV, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, at his home. Born August 23, 1932, in Kegley, West Virginia, he was a son of the late James B. Davis and Cecile Davis. George was a twenty-year veteran having served four years in the U.S. Navy and sixteen years in the U.S. Air Force. George enjoyed playing poker with his friends, walking around the lake at Glennwood Park, hunting and golfing.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Carol Crotty Davis; son, George Michael Davis; brothers, James C. Davis, Billy W. Davis, Robert Davis; sisters, Ethel Davis Collins Mabel Davis Eanes, Betty Davis Hill and Janice Davis West.
George is survived by his daughters, Cathy Davis Lewis, (and her late husband) Butch Lewis, Leeta Davis Richardson and husband, Donald Richardson; sister Connie Davis Esterl and husband, Chuck Esterl; brother, (Gene Davis, and his late wife) Teresa Hall Davis. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kimberly Lewis Kirby and husband, Dewayne Kirby; grandson, Dennis Grant and girlfriend, Heather Kelley; granddaughter, Shawna Christian Huddleston and husband, Jeffery Huddleston, Ashley Braswell and husband, George Braswell; great grandchildren, Shannon VanSteen and husband, Dalton, Dylan Grant, Haley Kirby, Nevaeh Christian, Ethan Grant, Marley Braswell, Aila Braswell, Nash Braswell and Jaxon Huddleston; and companion and special friend, Judy Faulkner.
The family would like to extend an invitation to all of their family and friends to join them for a celebration of life service that will be held Friday, June 28, 2024, at Roselawn Funeral Home at 1:00PM with special speaker, and brother-in-law, Kenny Joe Crotty. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00PM. George will be entombed at Roselawn Mausoleum. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Compassus of Princeton or the VA at Beckley.
