Gary Brent Furches, age 70 of Princeton, WV went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 9, 2022 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV. Born July 31, 1952 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late James and Mary Ruth Furches. Gary was a 1972 graduate of Princeton High School. After graduation, Gary joined the United States Marine Corp and completed a tour in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he began working in 1972 as a Relay Driver and Union Steward for Betsy Ross bakeries which became Flowers Baking Company of WV, LLC in 1982. Gary became a shipping supervisor in 1992 until the company closed in 2011 when 166 employees lost their jobs. Gary was of the Christian faith and attended Pisgah Community Church. Gary loved fishing, and camping with his love, Janey Sue. They married in 2001 in Pigeon Forge, TN and frequently took trips back to the Great Smokey Mountains. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by one sister, Rhonda Bailey.
Those left to cherish his memory, his wife of 21 years and the love of his life, Janey Sue Furches; children, Steven Furches of Princeton, WV, Stacey Furches of Beckley, WV, and Mistie Hurst of Princeton, WV; brothers: Bentine (Linda) Furches, Tim (Sandy) Furches, Dennis Furches, Rodney (Teresa) Furches; sisters; Sabrina (Todd) Jones, Dee (Josh) Roberts, and Sandy (Andy) Milean; grandchildren, Mathew Furches, Kaya Hurst, Chris Hurst, and Colton Wright; sister-in-law Nancye Dellinger; brother-in-law, Houston Hurt, Jr.; and his precious Labradoodle, Bella.
The family will receive friends from 11AM-12PM Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel in Princeton, WV where funeral services will be conducted at 12 PM with Bentine Furches officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Mercer County Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in honor of Gary, to the Mercer County Animal Shelter (961 Shelter Rd. Princeton, WV 24740).
