Obituary

Freddie Lee Peaks Sr., 66, of Princeton, WV, formerly of Welch, gained his wings on Monday, July 8, 2024. He was born October 14, 1957, to the late Herbert Peaks and Laura Belcher Peaks.

Freddie was a kind soul who never met a stranger. He loved talking to people, especially about his children, who was his pride and joy. Freddie would always help anyone in need and was the first to offer help.

Freddie started his 39-year coal mining career in Big Four, WV. He loved coal mining, always taking advantage of every day of work. Hard work was his passion, and he loved the brotherhood of mining. Freddie enjoyed fishing, being out in nature, working outside in his yard, and watching football. His favorite football team was the Carolina Panthers. Freddie had lots of love to share, especially with his cat "Whiskey" they did everything together, even watching movies and taking naps. Freddie was the best storyteller who ever lived.

In addition to his parents, Freddie is preceded in death by his brother Johnny Peaks, sister Sue Peaks England, and his niece Heather England.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 35 years, Sharon "Sherry" Peaks of Princeton, six children Angel Smith (Bret) of Claremont, FL, Rodney Estep of Story Point, NC, Keith Estep (Chantel) of China Grove, NC, Freddie Peaks Jr. (Nora) of Hudson, NC, and Crystal Matney (Thurman) of Minneola, FL, Brandi Hughes (Jan) of Welch WV, sister Brenda Peaks of Welch, WV, brothers Danny Peaks, Ralph Peaks, and Midge Peaks all of Welch, WV, grandchildren Dawson, Takota, Shyann, Morgan, Britney, Brooke, BJ, Caitlin, Caleb, Heather, Dylan, Jacob, and Landyn, great-grandchildren Gabriel, Violet, Elliot, Holton, and Margot.
