Obituary

Freddie Vaughn Adkins, age 68, of Bluefield, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord peacefully on August 22, 2025. He was born May 23, 1957 in Bluefield, WV, to the late Claude and Cora Lee (Lambert) Adkins. Freddie was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, whose kindness and love for life touched everyone he met. He had a lifelong passion for cars and built his career in the car business. In his younger years, he was also known as a talented guitar player. More than anything, Freddie loved people, never meeting a stranger. He found great joy in talking with others, sharing stories, and especially spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. His faith was at the center of his life, and he cherished reading his Bible, daily.

In addition to his father, Claude Adkins, he is preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Adkins; brother-in-law, Keith Honaker; and nephew, Landon Sayers.

Freddie is survived by his children Christina Robinette and husband, Ricky of Princeton, WV, Melissa Meadows and husband, Shawn of Rock, WV, Claude W. Adkins of Bluefield, WV, Samantha Proffitt of Beckley, WV, and Katie Adkins of Beckley, WV. Freddie was blessed with 10 grandchildren who include, Cody and Chase Neal, Kierstin Robinette, Tyler Hampton, Keira Pruitt, Ethan Lewis, Ayvah, Aysir, Ayslynn, Ayveri - Bleu Adkins; and 7 great grandchildren, who all brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his siblings: Teddy Adkins and wife Melva; Marie Lotts, Susan Honaker, and Maggie Doggett, all of Bluefield, WV.

Freddie will be remembered for his warm heart, his love for his family, his deep faith, and his gift of making others feel welcome. He also shared a special friendship with Benny Dillow, who held an important place in his life.

Services to honor and celebrate Freddie's life will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, West Virginia on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Visitation will be from 10:00AM-10:30AM with funeral services beginning at 10:30AM. Committal services will be immediately following the service at Roselawn Cemetery.
