Obituary

Frances Elizabeth Hawks Scott, born October 27, 1933, to the late Arthur and Mary Hawks of Bluefield, West Virginia and was one of two children,  and was the older sister to Margaret. After graduating from McComas High School in Bluefield, West Virginia, Frances left Bluefield to work for the FBI in Washington, D. C. She met her late husband, George Scott at Grace Baptist Church while living in Washington, D.C. They later married and had six children, Arthur, Benjamin, Christopher, Dale, and Carolyn, and lived in Landover Hills, Maryland. George and Frances were married
for 60 years, and Frances faithfully cared for George at home during his last years. Frances was a stay home wife and mother, raising her five children as well as caring for other children to supplement the family's income. She enjoyed reading, gardening, was active in DMA (Don't Mention Age), she volunteered with the Gospel Mission in Bluefield, and assisted George with the Gideon's. Frances served faithfully for thirty years in the nursery at Riverdale Baptist Church, and several years in MOP's ministry and at Johnston Chapel Baptist Church. Frances served in the Women's Auxiliary Gideon's Ministry in both Maryland and West Virginia. She also served with her husband at the Rescue Mission in Bluefield, WV. Frances exemplified a servant's heart.

Frances is survived by her sister, Margaret Boone of Catharpin, Virginia, sons; Arthur (Art) of California, Benjamin (Ben) of Colorado, Dale of Washington, and daughter Carolyn of Maryland. Frances is the beloved grandmother and great-
grandmother of thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Both her son, Christopher, and husband, George, beat her to Heaven.
