Edmund Blaine Rannells, III 83 of Bluefield WV went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Raleigh General Hospital. Edmund was born December 4, 1938 to the late Annabelle and Edmund Rannells, Jr., in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. Edmund decided to serve his country prior to graduating high school in 1957 by enlisting in the Army Reserve. Edmund honorably served his country for 30 years.
Edmund was a member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV) chapter 31 and the American Legion post 14. He also volunteered at the Beckley VA and Celebrate Recovery at the Day Report Center for 7 years. Edmund was a member of the Cumberland Road Church of God. Edmund especially enjoyed camping and riding Harley Davidsons with his wife. He also enjoyed taking care of his blackberry patch, and supplying his family and friends with his bounty.
In addition to his parents, Edmund was preceded in death by his infant son Edmund Blaine Rannells, IV and his sister Sue Thomas.
Left to cherish Edmunds precious memories are his loving wife of 15 years, Susan Rannells; his daughter Anne (Don) Riggins; grandchildren: Victoria Jarrell, Joshua Haynes, and Aaron Razo Soto; great-grandchild Norah Deaton, and special sister-in-law Celesta Starling.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 2pm on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, with Bishop Mike York, pastor of Cumberland Road Church of God, officiating. Family and friends will meet at the Roselawn Funeral Home parking lot 15 minutes prior to the service.
In leu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to the Cumberland Road Church of God.
