Dr. Delilah Ferne O'Haynes, age 69, Bluefield, WV, went to be with our Lord August 18th, 2023, after a long illness. Delilah was a Professor of English at Concord University, where she taught Creative Writing, along with general writing and literature classes, from 1992 until her retirement in 2021, A native of Clintwood, Virginia, and a coal-miner's daughter, she was also a professional writer. Delilah's accomplishments, achievements, awards, and accolades are too many to list here. She was bubbly, fiesty, and determined, which carried her through many years of health issues.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dollie Haynes Hibbitts. She leaves behind her only sibling, a sister, Jewele Haynes, one uncle, "Papa Tollie", two aunts, Augusta and Minnie, one nephew, Roy Mullins II, three nieces, Loretta Mays, April Jackson, Bernetta Robbins, a host of extended family members, loving friends, and colleagues. Delilah was cherished by too many to name.

Delilah's wishes were to be cremated with no service.
