Clingman Benton Long, Jr. (Ben), born in Charlotte, NC, to Juanita Cook Long and Clingman Benton Long, Sr. on June 24, 1926, went to be with our Lord on February 16, 2021.He married his surviving, devoted wife, Kathy Coone Long, formerly of Mooresville, NC, on May 7, 1977.Ben is predeceased in death by his parents, his youngest daughter, Amy L. Davis, and his granddaughter, Lacey Long.Ben is survived by his children, Allaine L. Hewitt (Tony), Larry B. Long (Lindell), Nancy L. Bain (David), and Jo Beth L. Shinn (Stephen).He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Tori Shinn, Kassidy Shinn, Joseph Shinn, Jason Honeycutt, Mary Lynn Bain, Meredith Bain, Madison Bain, Logan Long, Landon Long, Loren Long, Hunter Edwards, Grace Davis and Christopher Davis.He has been a member of Fair View United Methodist Church, Mt. Mourne, NC, over forty years. Ben joined the Navy at age 17 during WWII where he served mainly in the Pacific in the Submarine Service.He worked for IBM for over thirty-three years and retired in 1986.He loved life, family and friends, his poodles and cat, construction, woodworking and camping for many years.He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was loved by everyone who knew him.A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. online condolences maybe shared with the family at roselawnmontevista.com
