Christine Pensule Damewood, 95, of Princeton WV passed away on Tuesday June 3, 2025 in the Abingdon VA area where she lived near two of her sons. She was born in Welch ,WV to Angelo Antonio Pensule (Pentasuglia) and Maria-Nicola Scarafile, one of 7 siblings and 5 half siblings. Her mother passed away when Christine was age 7, an event which greatly impacted her, and she was raised by her father with the assistance of older sisters. The family moved to Princeton during her teenage years and it was there she met her future husband, Edwin Clay Damewood, who lived just blocks away. During the early years of their marriage she was a stay at home mom while Ed pursued various careers ,including military service as an Air Force Major, which resulted in the family living in multiple areas across the U.S and the 4 children all being born in different states before moving back to Princeton. After her children were older, she began a career in retail sales in department stores which she loved for the interactions with people. In her later years she enjoyed spending time with her children and many grandchildren.

Christine was known for the warmth and generosity of her personality. Her home was always a gathering point for neighborhood children and family gatherings. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She was lovingly supportive of her husband as he endured multiple serious medical problems later in his life and she always showed gratitude for the love and support she received from her family.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons Richard, Edwin Clay and Daniel Damewood, daughter, Lois Elizabeth Laughlin, daughters-in law Marian Damewood, Eveline Damewood, and Vimla Damewood, son-in-law Timothy Laughlin, grandchildren Alaina, Adam, Julianna, Jordan, Diana, Zane, Gabriella, Shannon and Reed as well as 10 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday June 12, 2025 from 6:00PM-8:00PM at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, WV. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 at 1:00PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. Interment will immediately follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
