Obituary

Charles Edward Howell, was born on March 4, 1933 and departed this world on April 13th, 2021. He was born and raised on Black Oak Mountain, WV.
He was the son of the late Jesse Allen and Ruby Ethel Wimmer Howell. Charles also served his county in the Korean Conflict of 1953 through 1955, where he was promoted to a Corporal in US Army. He worked on the N and W, Norfolk Southern Railway for 39 years, in Bluefield, WV, before retiring.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Betty Crews Howell. They share two children, a daughter Donna Howell Beane, and husband Ed of Asheboro, NC, a son Gary Howell, and wife Vanda of Huntington, WV. A sister, Edna Mae Martin, of Princeton, WV, a brother Freddy Howell of Kegly, WV.He was preceded in death by a brother Benny Howell. Charles was blessed with four grandchildren, Rebecca Anderson and Matthew Ford of NC. Jesse Howell and Heather Dunn of Princeton, WV, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews and friends.

He enjoyed spending time with his family for summer days, holidays, and birthdays. He was a very tender loving husband, father and grandfather to his family,
which he loved dearly. He enjoyed playing bluegrass on his guitar and banjo, many times with family and friends. He loved working with his hands on carpentry, making beautiful wood works. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, until we meet again.

Visitation will Saturday, April 17, from 2:00 to 3:00, with Christian services starting at 3:00, with Pastor Tom Carpenter, with the Bridge Baptist Church, of Matoaka, WV. A Military Service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery, at 3:45 graveside, burial conclude at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery, in Princeton.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Bridge Baptist Church, 10 Barger Street, Matoaka, WV 24736, envelopes will be provided for donations.
