Obituary

Charles Wesley "Butch" Sisk, age 78 of Princeton, WV passed away March 9, 2023 at his home. Born August 30, 1944, in Isaban, WV he was a son of the late Charles Robert Sisk who passed away when Butch was just two years old. Charles Robert was honored with a Purple Heart for sacrificing his life to save two boy scouts from drowning. Butch's mother, Bessie Collins Crabtree later remarried to Dempsey Wayne Crabtree who raised Butch as his own. Butch attended Iaeger High School and on February 13, 1962 he joined the United States Navy. During his service, he served in the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged March 2, 1968. Butch was currently a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Once discharged from the military, Butch worked as a draftsman in Newport News, VA. He then worked on the railroad in Cleveland, OH, and then as a certified mine foreman in Iaeger, WV. Butch finished his working career as an over the road truck driver. After retirement, he found time doing the things he loved; gardening, hunting, fishing, and watching the Eagles at Hanging Rock Rapture Observatory. He also enjoyed knife collecting, watching hummingbirds, and being the ultimate prankster.

In addition to his parents, Charles Robert Sisk, Bessie Crabtree, and Wayne Crabtree, he is also preceded in death by his son, Charles Anthony Sisk; brothers, Dempsey Crabtree and Jody Crabtree; and sister, Rita Gay Sisk.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Darlene Woodson of Atherton, CA, Gail Roberts and husband, Ronald of Panther, WV, Deborah Lamp of Hilton Head, SC, Tammy Crabtree and companion, Robert Klatt of Wheeling, WV, and Hope Fahey of Mechanicsburg, PA and several nieces and nephews.


The family will receive friends from 10AM to 11AM, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, WV. Military Graveside Honors will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin, VA at 2PM.
