Obituary

Chad Robert Blevins, age 40, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away on August 11, 2025.

He was born on January 14, 1985, in Bluefield, West Virginia as the second son of Charles and Candy Blevins. Chad from an early age with his brother, Chris Blevins, discovered a love for the arts. He found his imagination to create scenes and stories through the powerful lenses of film and television. That then led to reading and the beautiful drawings of comic books.

Chad was inspired by many comic artists, prompting him to draw. He continued that in high school, graduating in 2003 from Northwest School of the Arts. He would further his art and skills at the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in the illustration program. He had the pleasure of showcasing his work in galleries and comic conventions over the years.

His best time was living in San Francisco, California for Film School at the Art Academy University in San Francisco. It was a transformative period of his life. Coming back to North Carolina, Chad eventually found himself working for the Mecklenburg County Library System. He helped curate books and supplies, teach computer technology as a tutor, used his art skills for a variety of graphic design projects, and more. Despite being here on Earth a short time, Chad left a big impact. He was loved and adored by family and friends. Many friends became his found family, and their children became his nieces and nephews. He loved all his family. His gentleness, his laughter, his kindness, his art, and his love live forever in everyone he touched.

Chad is preceded in death by his mother, Candy Blevins; grandparents, Fred and Annie Blevins; grandmother, Anne Saavedra; and uncle, Alan Saavedra. He is survived by his father, Charles Blevins; brother, Chris Blevins; uncle, Carl Saavedra; as well as an enormous found family from friends and their children.

The family will receive friends Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 12:30PM-2PM at Roselawn Funeral Home in Princeton, WV. Committal services will immediatley follow the service at Roselawn Cemetery.
