Carolyn was born July 15, 1939, in Princeton, WV to Herman Kyle and Anna Sue Caldwell. She was a 1958 graduate of Princeton High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Princeton and a former member of the First Church of God of Princeton. Carolyn had worked at
numerous jobs including the daycare of the First Church of God in Princeton, Allen's IGA Supermarket, and Stone and Thomas Department Store. She loved crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, classic movies, and Diet Coke. Her favorite pastime was watching westerns with John
Wayne and Roy Rogers on TCM. Carolyn passed peacefully at Princeton hospital with her granddaughter Sarah by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Anna Sue Caldwell, first husband Malcolm "Mickey" Champ, second husband Hobert Franklin "Frank" Farley, daughter Wendy Gail Champ Godfrey, and brother Jerry Caldwell.

Survivors include sons Alan Champ and husband Rick of Greensboro, NC, Tate Champ of Princeton, Andy Farley and husband Brad of Wilmington, NC; sisters Jane Noble of Charlotte, NC, Mary Sue Harmon of Columbus, OH. Herma Brown of Greensboro, NC; brother John Caldwell of Wytheville, VA; grandchildren Amanda Godfrey, Sarah Champ Kiser and husband Marcus Kiser, Michael Champ and wife Megan Champ, Brian Champ, Rebecca Champ, and Zachary Champ; nine great grandchildren; cousins; nieces; nephews; and friends.

Per Carolyn's request there will be no visitation and no funeral. A small grave side prayer will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV with family and friends.
