Billy Joe Barker, 71 of Princeton, WV passed away Friday March 3, 2023 with family by his side.
He was a devoted son, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend who loved his family and would do anything to help them when it was needed. He was a giving, caring and selfless soul. He had strong values and was loved by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. Everyone who knew Billy Joe knew that he was an extremely kind, loving, gentle and peaceful person, and that he loved his family very much.
Born June 22, 1951 in Princeton WV, he was the son of the late Samuel and Billie Barker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Barker, and sisters Shirley Barker and Nancy Barker.
Billy Joe was blessed with a large and loving family with 14 brothers and sisters. He was a graduate of Princeton High School. (Class of 1969)He attended Valdosta State College. He was in the United States Air Force for 4 years and the rest of his career was with the US Postal service. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, attending family gatherings, watching WVU games, old western tv shows, pitching horseshoes, listening to music, playing the guitar and singing, he was fun to be around and he liked being the entertainer, he enjoyed cooking out in the summer and during the evening's sitting under his walnut tree.
He lifted peoples' spirits and brought a smile to their faces with his quick wit and personality. He had seemingly endless supply of stories and life lessons. This world which is indeed a sadder place to live due to his passing.
Left to cherish his memory are his children; sons, Blair Barker, Heath Barker and wife Angie, and daughter Kelli Barker; grandchildren, Jordan Cecil, Rylan Aucamp, Lyndee Barker, Bella Atwell, and Kylee Taylor; brothers, Sammie Barker, Kelly Barker, Randy Barker and wife Ellen, Cecil Barker and wife Janet, and Larry Barker; sisters Molly Dickerson, Judy Brookman, Bonnie Flanagan, Janie Walters and Husband Colin, Vickie Kelly, Christy Barker and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. We will all miss him more than words can say.
To honor our father's wishes, there will be no funeral service. We invite you to please privately celebrate Billy Joe's memory in your own ways. We know that he will be with us all in spirit. Thank you for your understanding during this time.
