Betty Ann Firestine, 98, of Bluefield, West Virginia, died at her home in with friends and neighbors by her side. Born June 23, 1926, in Davy, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Emory Firestine and Myrtle Housley Firestine.
Betty graduated from Welch High School in 1944 and began her working career with Kingston Pocahontas Coal Company at Big Sandy and was later transferred to Hemphill at Warwick. In 1953 she began working at the McDowell County Circuit Clerk's Office and worked there until 1988 when she retired as Chief Office Deputy. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, in Bluefield Virginia. Prior to
moving to Bluefield she was a member of Davy United Methodist Church in Davy, West Virginia. She was an active and faithful member serving on numerous committees including being Church Treasurer, Chairman of the Administrative Council, Chairman of the Trustees, and chairman of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.
In addition to her parents, she is, preceded in death by a brother, Fred Conner Firestine, a sister-in-law, Wanda Firestine, a sister Freda Jane Firestine Cullimore, brother in law, Frank Cullimore.
Those left to cherish her memory include cousins, Steve Hurd and family of Tallahassee, FL, Dr. Thomas King, DDS and family of Kingsport, TN, Mary Nile Southam and family of Churchill, TN, and all extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 12:00PM Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 1:00PM with the Reverend Don Scott officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Mausoleum in Princeton, WV.
Steve Hurd, Tom King, Darrin Porter, Sam Foy, Jamie Hacker, Jim Mee will serve as pallbearers.
A special thank you to Patty Runnion, Sam and Cathy Foy, Jeri Casario, Patsy Sutterfield, and Compassus Hospice Care.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, or to a favorite charity of choice.
