Obituary

Betty Jean Campbell, of Welch, passed away March 16th, 2023, and is resting now in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Betty Jean's faith was at the core of who she was and she trusted completely in Him.

A graduate of Norfork Elkhorn High School, other than a short time spent living in New Jersey, Betty Jean was a lifelong resident of southern West Virginia, most of her years spent in Welch. Enjoying much professional success in her life, Betty Jean worked at Collins Department Store in Welch for over 30 years and was the store manager for many of those years. Her strong leadership, as well the caring relationships she built with employees and customers alike was the hallmark of her time there.

Betty Jean enjoyed life. Bowling, and in it finding much success, was a source of great camaraderie and accomplishment. She also enjoyed watching sports, especially cheering on the football and basketball teams of WVU. Planting flowers, trees, and tending to her garden brought her much joy! Her ability to bring together a wonderful meal and do it with ease was a talent appreciated by all!

Betty Jean's greatest love, over her years, was her family. Betty raised and cared for her daughter, Debra (Debbie) Gail Williams, throughout her life. Debbie preceded her in death. As well, Betty Jean, was one of five children of Thomas Alexander and Sadie Sizemore Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Thomas Alexander Williams Jr and Landon Howard Williams.

She is survived by her sister and brother, Lois Marie Pachella of KS, and Ronald T. Williams, WV, and a stepson, Ron Campbell, WV. Betty Jean was loved by many nieces and nephews who enjoyed spending time and laughter with her throughout their lives. She shared an especially close, loving relationship with her nephew, Steven Williams. Services will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home at 2pm on Thursday, March 23rd, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donation to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, www.yourcpf.org .
