Anna Elizabeth Gray, aged 97, of Princeton, WV, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Glenwood Healthcare Nursing Home.
She was born June 27, 1927, in Hemphill, WV, to Josh Day and Lucy Farthing Day. She was a 1945 graduate of Welch High School and was retired from McDowell County Schools, where she worked as a Teacher's Aide for many years. She loved her job and really enjoyed working with children.
Anna was a resident of Kimball (Vivian) and was a member of the Houston United Methodist Church. She loved being a Sunday School teacher. Anna also took pleasure in helping her many wonderful friends with various church projects. After moving to Princeton in 1989, she became a member of the Stinson United Methodist Church. She loved her church family and would go out of her way to do anything she could to help others.
She is preceded in death by her husband, David Raymond Gray. He and Anna were happily married for 66 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Paul Day; and three sisters, Irene Gregory, Alice Wellman, and Mary Sawyers.
Those left to cherish her memory include children David (Trula) Gray, of Titusville, Fl., Larry (Carol) Gray, of Princeton, WV; Sharon (David) Larkin, of Rocky Gap, VA; and Barry (Russell) Gray-Couch, of Boones Mill, VA; Grandchildren include Chris (Stacy) Gray, Olivia Gray, David Larkin, Jr. (Ashley), and Nicole Larkin (Michael Adashek); three great grandchildren, Joey Larkin, and Sylvia and Vivian Adashek; brother, Richard Day and sister, Brenda Petterson, both of Roanoke, VA; and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to express our most heartfelt appreciation to the many people at Glenwood Healthcare who cared for her and treated our mother as family.
